"Standard" vs. "Stunning": Navigating NDIS Funding for a Premium Build

We get asked this a lot: "Will the NDIS pay for a premium bathroom?"

The short answer is: The NDIS funds "reasonable and necessary" modifications to meet your functional goals. This usually covers the "standard" version of a modification. However, many of our clients at PBR want more than just "standard."

How it works:

  1. The Clinical Foundation: Your Occupational Therapist (OT) identifies the functional need (e.g., a level-entry shower).

  2. The NDIS Contribution: The NDIS provides funding for a compliant, functional solution.

  3. The "Gap" Investment: You can choose to "top up" the funding. If the NDIS covers a standard white vanity, but you’ve lost your heart to a custom timber-look floating unit with stone tops, you simply pay the difference.

Why work with an NDIS-specialist builder?

  • We speak the language of OT reports.

  • We ensure every "premium" choice still meets Australian Standards (AS 1428.1).

  • We handle the complex paperwork so you can focus on picking your tiles.
